HOW TO DIAMOND POLISH NATURAL STONE
First, start with metal bonded diamond tools to remove all saw-cutting marks & any surface scratches from marble & granite slab.
The natural stone honing & polishing process may utilize many steps of incremental polishing pad, diamond grit sizes with a wet electric or pneumatic stone polisher & grinder.
To remove deep scratches or saw marks, utilize lower grit sizes of 50, 100 & 200 mesh. To achieve higher polished results, utilize 400, 800, 1500 & 3000 grit sizes
To begin with lower grits, utilize side-to-side motion & not more than four or five rotations. With lower grits, too many rotations may grind more than needed without adding any value to polishing finish.
Make certain to polish the entire slab surface before moving to the next grit sequence.
A good method to insure complete polishing coverage is to periodically wipe slab surface with a light damp cotton towel & polish dry. You can observe the heat will evaporate from polished surface. Ensure all water evaporates then perform one more round of wet polishing. Move to the next higher grit sequence & repeat until
the desire polished result is achieved.
